FRESH – Keep growing … Community!
The gardens are tended by local volunteers who sign up for work shifts in exchange for taking home harvest items later in the season. This is a perfect chance for anyone who has down-sized to a condo or who doesn’t have room for their own garden to get their hands dirty in the soil and get rewarded with a bountiful harvest.
Volunteers build beds, plant, weed, water, tend, and ultimately harvest. Each year, a few group efforts – “working bees” – are needed to get large tasks done. This is also a chance for everyone to meet and get to know the other volunteers who are growing food together.
